The final trading day of the month is finally past us. So, how did the two Variants fare? Did they close out the month in the green?
Well, the Trailing Variant did since it closed the month with a small 0.34% gain. The same can’t be said of the Fixed TP Variant, though, since it’s down by 0.22% for the month. So near and yet so far! Boo hoo!
I guess we just got unlucky since the strong downtrend on May 30 did not continue. Worse, price action on May 31 was very choppy.
There was enough intraday volatility for the Fixed TP Variant to hit TP on some trades. However, the choppy price action also meant that losing trades were generated. And as a result, the Fixed TP Variant was able to shave its losses for the month, but it just wasn’t enough to push the Variant into positive territory. This is the first negative month for the Fixed TP Variant since we started the forward test on February of this year.
As for the Trailing Variant, May 31 was actually a bad day since the choppy price action meant that all winning trades were closed at SW. And they were just not enough to offset the two full losses suffered on that day. The Trailing Variant therefore closed out the month with a paltry 0.34% gain. It was up by 1.11% previously. Oh well. Such is life.
