With a relatively light roster of events last week, price action for the majors was largely determined by market sentiment. From what I observed, the dollar gave up ground on days when stocks fell but traded higher when stocks rallied!

Not all things end happily ever after. What started out as a great trade took a turn for the worst when price action reversed on me. While my first and second positions won, the third position lost.

I wasn’t expecting positive euro data this week, but that’s what we got when the German Ifo Business Climate data printed a better-than-expected number earlier today. This was great for the euro, so I decided to close out my position manually.

It was an amazing week to buy the dollar. The Greenback dominated last week’s trading on the heels of positive data from the U.S., further fueling speculations that the Fed would soon start to taper off its asset purchases.

No luck on this go around as the pair didn’t retrace quite enough to trigger my first set of orders at the 38% Fibonacci area. With EUR/USD now testing the 1.2900, I’ve decided to close it down and look for a new opportunity this week.
