Current Chairperson of the U.S. Federal Reserve, starting February 5th, 2018.

Jerome Powell holds a law degree from Georgetown University, as well as a B.A. in politics from Princeton University.

In 2011, Powell was nominated to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors by Barrack Obama, and took office the following year.   In 2014, he was nominated and confirmed for a second, 14 year term.

In November of 2017, President Trump nominated Powell to serve as the Chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.

Powell has been described as both a monetary policy dove and a neutral, and also a skeptic of qualitative easing.

He  succeeds Janet Yellen, who served from 2014-2018.
