Dollar traders priced in the likelihood of a less hawkish FOMC after policymaker Dudley announced his retirement while the Loonie drew support from an upbeat Ivey PMI.

EUR got whupped across the board and was the only real mover during today’s steady morning London session. AUD is worth noting as well since it apparently took directional cues from rising gold prices and edged out all its forex rivals.

A dovish BOJ minutes weighed on the yen in early Asian session trading, while a disappointing inflation expectations report also put Kiwi on the defensive.

Despite a ton of reports and events, directional movement wasn’t really very strong this week. Still, it’s worth mentioning that NZD came out on top while GBP was at the bottom of the forex heap.

Today is another NFP Friday, so trading conditions were relatively tight. However, it’s worth mentioning that both USD and GBP were able to find buyers while AUD continued to slide even lower.

With not a lot of data on the docket, Asian session forex traders turned to Australia’s retail sales release and continuation of previous sessions’ themes for volatility.

The dollar barely budged after Trump crowned Jerome Powell as next Fed head as traders appeared to focus on the uncertainty surrounding the tax plan.

Risk-taking was the name of the game during the Asian session, as traders priced in dovish news for the dollar and upbeat updates for the comdolls.

The Greenback mostly shrugged off the FOMC statement as the central bank kept rates on hold as expected. Dollar traders appear more interested in the announcement of the tax plan and next Fed Chair head.

The Loonie took hits across the board when Canada’s monthly GDP reading came in the red while pound traders seem excited to have their positions ready for a BOE hike.
