Greenback strength was still a major theme. The Greenback wasn’t the top dog, though, since the yen was able to eke out a win.The European currencies, meanwhile, were getting swamped by sellers.

Japan’s GDP and Australia’s quarterly wage reports had limited impact on their respective currencies. Instead, traders focused on overall risk sentiment.

Even though U.S. retail sales data disappointed, the Greenback raked in more pips as U.S. bond yields advanced.

The Greenback was able to add to its gains from earlier as U.S. bond yields rose. The euro, meanwhile, found itself at the bottom of the forex heap, thanks to a bearish kick near the end of the session. As for the pound, it had a more mixed performance.

Even though there were no major catalysts from the U.S. economy during the New York session, the dollar was able to pare its intraday losses to close positive across the board.

The morning London session saw an extension of the themes from earlier, namely EUR and GBP strength, as well as USD and JPY weakness.
