HLHB Weekly Update – March 20, 2013

EUR/USD

EUR/USD 1-hour Chart

I must admit, last week was a little slow. There were several valid trade signals, but most of them resulted in small gains or losses. I guess I’m still relieved that the end result was positive.

Below are all the crossovers that took place on EUR/USD and their corresponding results:

1. Invalid upward crossover. RSI did not go above 50.0.
2. Short at 1.2996. Closed at 1.3014 due to new crossover. -18 pips
3. Long at 1.3014. Closed at 1.3027 due to new crossover. +13 pips
4. Invalid sell signal since RSI was still above 50.0.
5. Long at 1.3040. Closed at 1.3026 when the 50-pip trailing stop was hit. -14 pips
6. Invalid short signal since RSI was already below 50.0 prior the crossover.
7. Long at 1.3032. Closed at 1.3016 when the 50-pip trailing stop was hit. -16 pips
8. Short at 1.3022. Closed at 1.2973 when the 50-pip trailing stop was hit. +49 pips
9. Invalid long signal since RSI was already above 50.0 even before the crossover occurred.

Total Gain/Loss: + 14 pips

It was almost the same story for GBP/USD. Although, I have to say that I’m pretty impressed that the HLHB Trend-Catcher caught the sharp rise that occurred during the latter part of the week.

2. Invalid downward crossover since RSI was already below 50.0 prior the crossover.
3. Invalid upward crossover. RSI did not go above 50.0.
4. Short at 1.4907. Closed at 1.4882 when the 50-pip trailing stop was hit. +25 pips
5. Long at 1.4901. Closed at 1.4932 when the 50-pip trailing stop was hit. +31 pips
6. Short at 1.4919. Closed at 1.4949 due to new crossover. -30 pips
7. Long at 1.4949. Closed at 1.4931 due to new crossover. -18 pips
8. Short at 1.4931. Closed when stop loss was hit at 1.4981. -50 pips
9 . Long at 1.4992. Closed at 1.5070 when the 50-pip trailing stop was hit. +78 pips
10. Invalid downward crossover. RSI did not go below 50.0.

Hoping that this week would turn out to be better than the last one. Fingers crossed!
