About The Loonie Adventures of a Forex Noob

The Loonie Adventures of a Forex Noob Author “Huck loves her bucks!” I always say. The problem, of course, is how to make those bucks!! In this blog, I'll be posting my adventures as I traverse the forex world, while trying to catch some pips along the way. To do this, I will make use of classical charting methods as well as develop my own mechanical system. After work, I will update you on what’s happened to me that day and how my trades went. Hopefully, by the end of this tale, I'll be able to achieve my goal of becoming a profitable currency trader.

HLHB Weekly Update - April 10, 2012

Sorry for being M.I.A. lately. I had a short, but much needed vacay from work at the coffee shop as well as from trading. But now I'm back!

EUR/USD 1-Hour Chart

I'm not sure if you guys missed me, but I'm pretty sure a lot of you are dying to know how my HLHB Trend-Catcher 3.0 has been doing recently especially after I posted its awesome performance for Q1 2012.

Sadly though, my system was down last week. However, I still think that it was a good one because my system was able to filter out a lot of bad trades. I guess it just goes to show that the Trend-Catcher's RSI filter really is working!

1. Invalid signal since the RSI was already above 50.0 the candle before.
2. Invalid signal since RSI was already below 50.0 two candles before.
3. Invalid signal again since RSI was already above 50.0 the candle before.
4. Invalid signal since RSI was already below 50.0 the candle before.
5. Long 1.3330. Stopped out when 50-pip trailing stop was hit at 1.3319. -11 pips.
6. Short at 1.3307. Closed when new crossover appeared at 1.3337. -30 pips.
7. Invalid signal since RSI was already above 50.0 one candle before.
8. Short at 1.3330. Closed when new crossover appeared at 1.3341. -11 pips.
9. Long at 1.3341. Closed when 50-pip trailing stop was hit. -50 pips.
10. Short at 1.3217. Closed when new crossover appeared at 1.3151. +66 pips.
11. Invalid signal since RSI was below 50.0.
12. Invalid signal since RSI did not cross the 50.0 level.
13. Another invalid signal since RSI did not cross 50.0
14. Invalid signal since RSI was already below 50.0 when the crossover happened.
15. Invalid signal since RSI did not cross 50.0 when the EMA crossover happened.
16. Invalid signal since RSI was already below 50.0 when the crossover happened.
17. Invalid signal since RSI did not cross 50.0 when the crossover happened.
18. Invalid signal since RSI was already below 50.0 when the crossover happened.
19. Long 1.3098. Closed when new crossover appeared at 1.3044. -46 pips.

As you can see, there were a LOT of fakeouts due to the ranging market but thankfully, the RSI kept me out of the bad trades... most of the time. Ah, well, no filter is perfect!

Anyway, I feel like I have a lot of catching up to do. Fill me in how your trading went last week!

XOXO,

Huck
