HLHB Weekly Update – September 10, 2010

PoD Chart

Oh my. Looks like my HLHB mechanical system caught a major whipsaw! Remember that signal last week? After EURUSD went my way for a couple of pips, the pair suddenly fell from the sky and stopped me out! Awww, shucks… that’s 125 pips I’ll surely miss.

It’s all good I guess – the HLHB is a trending system after all, which means it’s all about catching those huge waves from time to time. This just wasn’t it! Besides, we can’t be all winners, right Cyclopip and Happy Pip? Hah!

Do you know what else ticked my funny bone this week? Aside from overplaying Despicable Me’s “It’s so fluffy I’m gonna die”, I also had fun watching the central banks take the spotlight! That’s right, fresh doubts on the EU stress tests might have scared the currency bulls earlier this week, but central banks soon took center stage, and turned the risk appetite on like Donkey Kong.

The Bank of Canada‘s (BOC) hike in interest rates, as well as the Reserve Bank of Australia‘s (RBA) retention of its 4.5% cash rate this week signaled that the commodity-related economies are still chugging along even with the threats of a slowdown in economic growth. Booyeah!

Meanwhile, the Bank of Japan (BOJ) is tripping over itself trying to control the rapid rise of the yen. Aside from launching several press statements to deliver one message, the BOJ members are now finding more creative ways of saying that they will “watch over the price action closely” and that they will launch a “timely action.” Phew, that must be tiring!

Lastly, the US managed to pump out a few good economic data after taking a day off on Labor Day. The better-than-expected trade balance figures and the unemployment claims suggested that the US might not be as near the brink of a double-dip recession as most party poopers suggested. Talk about good news in time for the election!

It’s been a long and tiring week, and I just can’t wait for my shift to end later today. I just have one more confession to make…

I’m now a Mac Fan Girl…

There! I said it! I hated to admit it in the past, but I can’t deny the simple truth: the iPhone 4 is FREAKIN’ AWESOME!!! It’s beautiful! I want, I want, I want, I want, I want!

Dear FX-men, please, please, please give me one! PLEASSEEEE?!
