HLHB Weekly Update – April 19, 2013

EUR/USD 1-hour Chart

Let’s give a round of applause to the HLHB Trend-Catcher‘s 50-pip trailing stop! Thanks to it, the system was able to close a lot of trades in green, instead of getting stopped out with losses.

2. Long at 1.2996. Closed at 1.3014 due to new crossover. +18 pips.
3. Invalid short signal since RSI was above 50.0.
4. Invalid long signal. RSI was above 50.0 already prior the crossover candle.
5. Short at 1.3019. Closed at 1.3041 due to new crossover. -22 pips.
6. Long at 1.3041. Closed at 1.3073 when 50-pip trailing stop was hit. +32 pips.
7. Short at 1.3071. Closed at 1.3065 due to new crossover. +6 pips.
8. Long at 1.3065. Closed at 1.3100 due to new crossover. +35 pips.
9. Short at 1.3100. Closed at 1.3086 when 50-pip trailing stop was hit. +14 pips.
10. Invalid long signal since RSI was already above 50.0 prior the crossover candle.

Total gain: +83 pips

GBP/USD

GBP/USD 1-hour Chart

Oh, and lets not forget about the RSI! The indicator did a very good job of filtering out fakeouts during the week on GBP/USD.

1. Invalid short signal since RSI was above 50.0.
2. Invalid long signal. RSI was above 50.0 already prior the crossover candle.
3. Invalid short signal since RSI was above 50.0.
4. Long at 1.5310. Closed at 1.5308 due to new crossover. -2 pips.
5. Short at 1.5308. Closed at 1.5326 due to new crossover. -18 pips.
6. Long at 1.5326. Closed at 1.5385 due to new crossover. +59 pips.
7. Invalid short signal since RSI was above 50.0.

Total gain: +30 pips

I’m definitely pretty happy with the Trend-Catcher’s performance last week. But I don’t want to get too giddy about it. I’ll take it one week at a time.
