Henry Paulson

In June 2006 Henry Paulson was sworn in at the US Treasury Department as Secretary Paulson, succeeding John Snow as Treasury Secretary, and quickly emphasized the need to resolve the huge gap between America’s richest and poorest citizens in his first public appearance.
Wikipedia.org explains that, as the United States Secretary of the Treasury, Paulson "is the head of the United States Department of the Treasury, concerned with finance and monetary matters. This position in the Federal Government of the United States is analogous to the finance ministers of other nations. The Secretary is a member of the President's Cabinet."

In 1968 he earned a BA in English Literature at Dartmouth College, and graduated from Harvard Business School with a MB in Business Administration (1970).
He was a staff assistant (1970 – 1972) at the Pentagon, for the Assistant Secretary of Defense. From 1972 he assisted John Ehrlichman in US President Richard Nixon’s administration. In 1974 he worked at Chicago’s Goldman Sachs, one of the world’s most successful and largest banking institutions. He soon became a partner (1982), leading the Midwest’s investment banking (1983 to 1988). He then advanced from COO to CEO (1988).
Henry Paulson is also known as an activist for environmental and conservation issues worldwide. He is the Board Chairman for Nature Conservancy. He has assisted former Chinese President Jiang Zemin in the protection and preservation of Yunnan Province’s Tiger Leaping Gorge. He is the founding Chairman for Beijing’s Tsinghua University’s Board of the School of Economics and Management. He also has donated multi-million dollars of his own stocks in Goldman Sachs to promote environmental and conservation education through a private family created foundation.
