HLHB Weekly Update – July 26, 2013

EUR/USD

EUR/USD 1-hour

Faked out. These two words perfectly describe the HLHB Trend-Catcher 3.0‘s performance on EUR/USD last week. The system ended the week negatively as it caught numerous fakeouts. Specifically, the system took in 4 losses and only 2 wins. The final tally in pips was -59 pips. Ouch!

1. Short at 1.3049. Closed at 1.3043 when the 50-pip trailing stop was hit. +6 pips.
2. Invalid long signal since the RSI was already above 50.0 prior the crossover.
3. Invalid short signal. RSI was above 50.0.
4. Invalid long signal since the RSI was already above 50.0 prior the crossover.
5. Short at 1.3131. Closed at 1.3149 due to the new crossover. -18 pips.
6. Long at 1.3149. Closed at 1.3125 when the 50-pip trailing stop was hit. -24 pips.
7. Short at 1.3095. Closed at 1.3124 when the 50-pip trailing stop was hit. -29 pips.
8. Long at 1.3102. Closed at 1.3102 due to the new crossover. 0 pips.
9. Short at 1.3102. Closed at 1.3140 due to the new crossover. -38 pips.
10. Long at 1.3140. Closed at 1.3184 due to the new crossover. +44 pips.

Total loss: -59 pips

GBP/USD

GBP/USD 1-hour

It was pretty much the same sob story on GBP/USD. Out of the 11 signals that materialized, ONLY ONE closed with a win. Ugh! The market was just too volatile for my system to handle.

1. Invalid long signal since RSI was below 50.0.
2. Invalid short signal since RSI was above 50.0.
3. Long at 1.5108. Closed at 1.5095 when the 50-pip trailing stop was hit. -13 pips.
4. Short at 1.5062. Closed at 1.5094 when the 50-pip trailing stop was hit. -32 pips.
5. Long at 1.5124. Closed at 1.5120 when the 50-pip trailing stop was hit. -4 pips.
6. Short at 1.5114. Closed at 1.5129 when the 50-pip trailing stop was hit. -15 pips.
7. Long at 1.5203. Closed at 1.5220 when the 50-pip trailing stop was hit. +17 pips.
8. Short at 1.5198. Closed at 1.5208 when the 50-pip trailing stop was hit. -10 pips.
9. Long at 1.5219. Closed at 1.5193 due to the new crossover. -26 pips.
10. Invalid short signal since RSI was above 50.0.
11. Invalid long signal since RSI was below 50.0.

Total loss: -83 pips

But I ain’t that sad. After all, the Trend-Catcher did catch a whole lot of pips in the week prior. I just hope this one turns out to be better!
