HLHB Weekly Update – April 10, 2013

EUR/USD

EUR/USD 1-hour Chart

The HLHB had better luck on EUR/USD in last week’s trading as the pair trended. It scored a lot of small wins and only had one loss. Despite this, the RSI kept it from jumping on a couple of trades that could’ve ended up as winners. Nonetheless, I’m still happy about it especially after its dismal performance the week prior.

1. Short at 1.2806. Closed at 1.2814 due to new crossover. -8 pips.
2. Long at 1.2814. Closed at 1.2846 due to new crossover. +32 pips.
3. Short at 1.2846. Closed at 1.2828 due to new crossover. +18 pips.
4. Long at 1.2828. Closed at 1.2835 due to new crossover. +7 pips.
5. Invalid short signal since RSI was still below 50.0 during the downward crossover.
6. Long at 1.2857. Closed at 1.2911 due to new crossover. +54 pips.
7. Invalid short signal since RSI was still below 50.0 during the downward crossover.
8. Invalid long signal since RSI was already above 50.0 during the upward crossover.

Total gain: +103 pips

Unfortunately, the system did not perform positively in GBP/USD. All the big and profitable moves were filtered out, and the system only took two small losing trades. Below is a list of all the crossovers that occurred, as well as their corresponding results.

1. Invalid downward crossover because the RSI was above 50.0.
2. Invalid long signal. RSI was already above 50.0 prior the crossover.
3. Short at 1.5190. Closed at 1.5196 due to the new crossover. -6 pips.
4. Invalid upward crossover since the RSI was below the 50.0 level.
5. Short at 1.5222. Closed at 1.5235 because of the new crossover. -13 pips.
6. Invalid upward crossover. RSI was below 50.0.
7. Invalid short signal. RSI was below 50.0 prior the crossover.
8. Invalid long signal. RSI was below 50.0.
9. Invalid short signal. RSI was above the 50.0 level.
10. Invalid long signal. RSI was above 50.0 prior the upward crossover.
11. Invalid short signal. RSI was above 50.0.
12. Invalid long signal. RSI was above 50.0 prior the upward crossover.

Total Gain/Loss: -19 pips.

Because of last week’s mixed performance, I’m uncertain as to how my system will perform this week. Hopefully, it’s able to end up positively!
