Forward Test Results: Amazing Crossover System

Greetings, earthlings. I’m sure you’ve been waiting for the results of my forward tests on the Amazing Crossover system… and I’ve got ’em right here!

Before all that though, make sure you take a look at the following blog entries first:

Forex System Rules: Amazing Crossover System

Forex Mechanical System Backtest Results: Amazing Crossover System

And now, here are the forward testing numbers:

forward test amazing crossover forexFor the first three weeks of the month, the mechanical system was able to generate a total of 9 trades and 246 pips, amounting to 2.46% in gains. Of course I set a 100-pip stop, as the system poster recommended, and risked a standard 1% per trade.

I’ve already received a lot of comments from fellow traders saying that they were impressed with this system, and I gotta say I’m blown away too! This is probably one of the best human-made mechanical trading systems I’ve ever seen so far, as it had no losing trades for the month and a pretty solid win ratio.

As I mentioned in my backtest results entry, I’m digging the 20-pip trailing stop since it allows the trader to hold on to recent gains. I also like how the RSI filters out volatile signals when the market is moving sideways. But I’m getting ahead of myself… I’ll save the rest of my comments on this system for next week’s overall review based on my framework for mechanical systems.

Have any of y’all tried this system out yourselves? How did your results turn out?

    Hi Art of Automation,

    Amazing results indeed! Congratulations!
I´m going to continue testing the system myself. Couple of questions in advanced:
    – Are you manually forward testing or have you implemented a robot for the system?
    – Have you included any other indicator like MACD or Parabolic SAR to take entry decisions?

    Thanks!

    Regards

Thanks for taking the time to look at the results and to share your feedback! I run the forward tests on MT4 with a simple program to execute trades based on the system rules, then I just review the trades afterwards. I’ll see what I can do about including additional indicators, but I worry that it might filter out too many trade signals. Then again, that depends on the parameters. I’ll keep you posted!

        Hi Robopip,

        Thanks for your answer.
Do you think is possible to provide a more detailed list of the orders open? We would like to see more in detail how the price reacted when the orders were open.
By the way, what pair have you used for the simulation?

        Many thanks in advanced.

Yikes I may have already discarded the one for this. I’ll see if I can post the detailed orders in my next set of backtests. Thanks for the tip! I used EUR/USD in this one.

            Thanks Robopip,

            Longing for your orders!
            Regards

Hi Mk! This particular one was easy to code as an EA and run on MT4 for the forward tests, as you can input the technical indicators and parameters for entries and exits. If you don’t have coding experience, there are a few sites that could generate the EA for ya.

Hi robopip, first of all thanks for the system and I am going to use it right away. If you would provide us the template like what’s the price enter, TP and SL price, that would be awesome because I believe you won’t enter simply just crosses ema and rsi over 50 right?

  • Robopip

If I’m not mistaken, the original forum thread has some EAs based on a few tweaks. I’ll be working on the EAs myself as well, but it might take a while…

  • Robopip

Are you matching an upward EMA crossover with an upward RSI crossover or a downward EMA crossover with a downward RSI crossover? Works fine so far.

Hi Robopip. I have been trying to duplicate your results, but so far I have been failing.

If you look at the chart I provided here, you can clearly see that JUL 1 8:00 we have lower than 50 values for RSI, and EMA 10 > EMA 5.
    Then at JUL 1 9:00, RSI value becomes > 50, and EMA 5 > EMA 10.

This is a buy signal. I have correctly set the parameters for RSI and EMAS. So I buy at the open price of the next candle (OPEN JUL 1 10:00) as you suggested.

This buy trade hits Stop Loss at JUL 04 9:00, -100 PIPS.
It never reaches +20 pips from Open price so that I could have set a trailing stop.

In your forward test results for JUL 1-24, you have 0 losses.
Please, tell me what I am missing here. I am gonna go insane soon otherwise.

What can I do to replicate your results?
